The US, as the head of the Anglosphere, is the successor of the UK. As such it could consider itself as a European nation. Presently, more than Russia, the main threat to the European culture, languages and identity is the Anglosphere and its allies on the subcontinent, that is Poland, and the Baltic and Scandinavian states, not to mention the TAFTA free trade association project that some in the US still pursue, and of course NATO of which the borders coincide more and mote with those of the EU. If these were to succeed we would see the complete gafamisation and englishization of Europe from the Atlantic and possibly to beyond the Ural.
